Crystabelle model

Model feature : CrystaBelle

Crystabelle is a model with a flair for the alternative, currently taking part in the Alternative model of the year competition her work's certainly off to a good start!

How did you start modelling? Was it something that you always wanted to do, or did it just 'happen'?

I had quite a few friends and family members tell me I should get into modelling from when I was around the age of 16. When I was that age I never really had the confidence to do anything like that but as time went on I thought why not just give it a try. I thought If I don't get anything from it then at least I will have nice photos to look back on when I'm old and wrinkled so decided to just give it a try. I had a few shoots and had really good feedback from them so that is what drove me into sticking with it and building up a portfolio.

What drew you towards alternative modeling?

I have always been into the alternative style. I love the styles of alternative hair, make up, clothes and alternative music.

My parents took me to my first proper rock gig when I turned 13 and from then from then on I hit it hard with alternative fashion and styles. I started dying my hair all kinds of colours, going crazy with outfits and loving life in an alternative way. I loved going to school and being the girl that stood out for being different.

Do you have any fellow models or heroines who have inspired you?

I haven't had any fellow models or heroines who have inspired me, I have only had the vote off friends and family who have believed in me that I can achieve something with modelling.

What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future?

I would love to do Disney or fairy tales but with an added alternative twist. For example a dark side to a snow white style. Or a dark origin of Red riding hood. Bring out the Grimm's to these happily ever after or fairy tales.

I would love to also be able to do shoots where I could promote alternative clothes.

What has been your biggest modelling achievement so far?

I recently entered a competition for Alternative model of the year and they selected me for the finals, so I will be on the catwalk in September. I'm really looking forward to it!

How did you discover your particular interest in alternative fashion?

From a young age I have always loved the alternative fashion. I got brought up listening to bands like Nirvana and Metallica as my parents love the alternative music and styles. It was when I was taken to my first proper gig at age 13 that I wanted to go from the 'part alternative' wardrobe to the 'full alternative' wardrobe. My parents supported me in my wild choice of clothes and hair as they liked it too (especially my mum).

Are there any companies or designers that you'd like to work with?

Yes, there are quite a lot I would LOVE to work with. I would LOVE to work with Cupcake cult, Banned Apparel, Hell bunny, iron fist, Living dead souls, Drop dead, Criminal damage and Phaze clothing.

I'm forever on these sites looking at their new and current ranges. I would love to be able to work with any of them as I think all of them have great products and I would love to be able to have the opportunity to promote them.

What are your goals & aspirations for the future?

My goal is to be accepted into an alternative modelling agency and be able to promote products for them.

My aspiration would be to build up a great fan base and have my name known around the world.
