Model feature : Bleeding Rose
Alt model Bleeding Rose has certainly turned her hand to a vast array of work, not just within alternative fashion but also fetish, art & conceptual work.
How did you start modelling? Was it something that you always wanted to do, or did it just 'happen'?
It kind of just happened really if you had said to me when I was 16 that I would model I would have said that you were mad! I was asked by photographers to model for them whilst I was at various gothic and metal clubs and even on bebo! I said no for quite a while thinking I wasn't good enough or confident enough to do modelling being quite a shy person back then. After some encouragement I had my very first shoot when I was 18 thinking I would give it a try and see how it went. I had a lot of fun but still didn't feel I was ready and wanted to concentrate on getting though my degree. When I moved to Glasgow and ventured out to some of the local alternative clubs I met two people who convinced me to give it a try again and here we are!
How drew you towards alternative modeling?
Being an alternative person it was a natural place for me to start since I'm most comfortable in that kind of environment. I love the open mindedness of the alternative community welcoming in people from all walks of life. The thing I like most about alternative modelling is the large scope for creativity with the outfits, hair and makeup. My own personal look fits into the more gothic and fetish sub groups of alternative modelling although I am not restricted to this, a change in hair and makeup can work wonders.
Do you have any fellow models or heroines who have inspired you?
I have to say Dita Von Tease sexy, talented and downright classy is always someone who I have admired. Another person who inspires me is a close personal friend of mine, in fact one of the people who got me into modelling in the first place, this person has encouraged me to explore all aspects of myself and given me the confidence to do so.
What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future?
I would love to do some couture style corset shoots and avant garde is quite appealing because of the creative aspects. I am also a big fan of mixing alternative fashion with artistic concepts creating both
unusual and interesting images.
What has been your biggest modelling achievement so far?
I would say travelling to the German fetish weekend and modelling in the fashion show for the ball. It was an experience that will stay with me for a long time, both in terms of the awesome atmosphere and for my own learnings. The diversity in styles of each designer was incredible; it takes fashion to a whole new level.
How did you discover your paticular interest in alternative fashion?
I tried on my first gothic steel boned corset when I was 17 and fell in love with them, instant curves in seconds. I have always admired people who aren't afraid to try something different or to explore an unusual interest which is probably what draw me into wearing alternative clothes in the first place. Latex has also had a big impact on me as it is very versatile as a material ranging from classic fetish to more traditional fashion designs. Although leather and plastic might be interesting to try.
Are there any companies or designers that you'd like to work with?
That's a hard question; there is way too many great designers out there. Fairy gothmother would be high on a rather long list as they are one of the first corset companies I came across, not to mention all the amazing latex designers established and up and coming.
What are your goals & aspirations for the future?
I would love to model on a more permanent basis and to travel abroad more but completing my postgraduate course is my immediate goal for the near future. I would like to be able to look back on my life and think wow I really did all that and oh my, what fun it all was!
