Alex Mealand model

Model feature : Alex Mealand

Alex is a model with many strings to her bow, not just specialising in alternative modelling, but fashion, alt glamour & dance.

How did you start modelling? Was it something that you always wanted to do, or did it just 'happen'?

I did a little bit when I was younger but when I was about 18, I entered Miss Teen Queen UK and did well so I decided to carry it on and see how far I could pursue it.

What drew you towards alternative modeling?

I am not the typical model; Fashion or glamour but I do really enjoy glamour modelling so alternative glamour is right up my street. I think 'alternative' doesn't have to mean loads of piercings and tattoos; It's more of a way of thinking, something that isn't the 'norm'.

Do you have any fellow models or heroines who have inspired you?

My ultimate favourite models are Mellisa Clarke and Natasha Kalashnikov. They both should be as famous as Lucy Pinder.

What kind of shoots would you like to work on in the future?

I've got a latex style shoot coming up and I'd like to do more of them and I'd also like to do a 'Poison Ivy' themed shoot. I'm also planning to have a shoot in my new apartment!

What has been your biggest modelling achievement so far?

Either being in the finals of Miss UberGirl 2011 or being published in Nuts, Zoo, Bizarre and Kerrang! magazines.

How did you discover your paticular interest in alternative fashion?

I used to wear metal New Rock boots and dye my hair black when I was about fifteen so I've always been interested in it! I'm always drawn to 'different' things.

Are there any companies or designers that you'd like to work with?

So many! I really want to work with photographers like Scott Ninness and Damien Morley and I'd love to do more work with big publications like Front, Nuts and Zoo magazines.

What are your goals & aspirations for the future?

Dancing is my passion apart from modelling and it's my dream to be a dancer for a massive TV show like the X Factor. Regarding modelling, I am just going to pursue it to the highest level I can. I am also looking on joining a pole dancing troupe and doing shows with them.
