LondonEdge February 2015 : The stylish aftermath. Feature: Leona Turford


Always a fashionable event on the alternative calender, this February's LondonEdge certainly didn't disappoint, as it made itself right at home at new venue, Olympia's West Hall. With a three day extravaganza of alternative fashion, it's THE only event on our fashion calendar, and it's certainly gone down a storm with the flurry of alternative fashionistas and traders attending the show.


Thousands of you fashionable shoppers, bloggers and traders took over the West hall, as you sunk your claws into the latest alternative wares to be snapped up from designers and companies around the world. It's the only place where you can purr over the latest alternative designs without being ejected from the shop for causing a scene as you lovingly clasp onto that gorgeous new dress.


With highlighted exhibitors showcasing the latest from their Spring/Summer ranges of designs, there was plenty to feast your eyes on, whether you were shopping for your own store, or simply perusing the latest items to add to your wardrobe. From the slinky new latex collection of Yummy Gummy Latex, to the gorgeous new heels of Bettie Page shoes, and the alt street style wears of Offend My Eyes, whatever your style there was plenty to browse and see across the show.


Starting as it always means to go on, the show opened with a bang on the Sunday, showcasing their second blogger's event, bringing together bloggers from the world of alternative and independent fashion for a soiree with free champers, goodie bags, and a talk from Rock n Roll Bride's very own Kat Williams. If you weren't online that day you would have missed a flurry of instagram and twitter snaps hitting the net from the bloggers event.

But of course there was much more to the show than a flurry of press, the main highlight of the show alongside the exhibitors is always the fashion show, bringing the exhibitors wares to the catwalk in a flurry of alternative style. With designs by exhibitors Offend My Eyes, Phaze, Hell Bunny, Queen of Darkness and many more hitting the stage with their latest designs.


It's enough to rack up a massive wish list for new season clothes with all the stylish displays from the exhibitors and fashion shows throughout the day. The new venue certainly set the scene, with exhibitors snuggly fitting in amongst the aisles as they showcased their newest collections.

The February show may be over, but it's all go for the second show of the year, set to open this September as it returns to the Business Design Centre in Islington on the 6th-8th Sept. Of course, for most of us that's still months away, but there's outfits to plot, and lavish aftershow parties to plan!
