City feature: Central London
A city with many diverse areas; London has it's major shopping areas within the centre of the city. Each area providing it's own unique draw to alternative shopping; & you can find both a historical, & influential shopping experience in the centre of London.



Starting out at one of London's historical haunts, Carnaby street, is just a stones throw away from Oxford street. Carnaby was a key district to 60's fashion, home to designers such as Mary Quant, & a thriving aspect of the Mod scene. You can find just as exciting a variation of designers & brands on the street today, with quirky shops a plenty.



From the kitsch & colourful infamous shoes of Irregular choice, to the quirky jewellery, & accessories of Octopus.

Nestled amongst high-end designers, & well-know stores on the street.

Further along the street is a hidden gem to Carnaby, Kingly court. A treasure trove of alternative, vintage, & kitsch attire. You'd be forgiven for thinking it was a hidden multi-story cafe on first glance but as well as being home to several cafes, & bars; Kingly court holds 3 floors of shops a plenty.



Straight into the ground floor you'll find the quirky tees, & pencil scarves of Lazy oaf, & the glamorous burlesque worthy treats in Traffic people.



Carrying on up to the next 2 floors, you'll find a wonderful mix of rockabilly attire (black pearl boutique), jewellery (buffys beads), vintage (stromboi's circus, & fur coat no knickers), & even a quirky tea room (Camellia Sinensis).

A walk back out onto Carnaby street, & you'll find Newburgh street not far away. Home to designers Savage, & Chateau rox, but you can also find gothic jewellery at The great frog, & kitsch jewellery in abundance at Anna Lou of London.

But there is also much more to the centre of London. A quick walk back up to Oxford street & you'll find the newest addition to the street, B never. A beauty bar with a selection of alternative friendly cosmetics, & perfumes that are also vegetarian friendly to boot!
Not to forget the newest addition to the alternative make up bag; Illamasqua, with their concession stand in Selfridges.

A quick hop on the tube will take you to Covent garden where you can find treats amongst the market, & plaza.



Home to further branches of Octopus, B never, & Savage, amongst David & Golaith, & others. As well as our highlight of the plaza, Candy cakes; brimming with a selection of bright colourful cupcakes topped with sweets with inventive tasty fillings, a decora worthy snack!

Not to forget you can also find The Japan centre, back on Piccadilly just a quick walk away from the tube; an otaku haven of food, magazines,& treats.

You can certainly spend a pleasant day around the centre of London, visiting a selection of alternative shops, alongside alt friendly treats, & the usual tourist selections the city has to offer.
There is much more to London & you just need to pop on the tube to visit a broad selection of shops. So if the Goth & emo scene of Camden isn't your thing, then you'll most likely find it amongst the colourful shops of Carnaby.
