Deathrock
The deathrock look essentially started off with musicial roots; from bands such as Christian death, Alien sex fiend, Specimen & The virgin prunes. Not to forget the influences from key goth figures Siouxise sioux & Robert smith.

But it's roots go further than just musicial links; you can find influences to the look from horror movies particularly cult & b movies as well as Tv shows such as The munsters which have in a way helped to pave the look from Lily Munsters streaked hair & bat necklace (an item which may shops have copied over the decades).

Not forgetting gothic imagery from bats, skulls & graveyards, playing on the spooky theme.
In terms of Deathrock as a fashion it takes on a combination of gothic & punk influences, happily sitting between the two looks. Deathrock does take on more of a diy approach as well as combining black & white tones with darker colours or vibrant shades.
Items most oftenly used include fishnets (torn up or diy'ed as sleeves), black jeans, plaid items, biker jackets (preferably diy'ed or customised) & Dr martens. Combining them with band tee's, badges & patches, jewellery & studs. Along with a pale complexion, dark eyemakeup & red lipstick.

Deathrock of course is also about the hair, which taking Lily munster's influence can be streaked & of course big!, or hawked, backcombed & undercutted.
