Burlesque
Burlesque is a hugely growing phenomena in the UK right now; with burlesque acts cropping up left, right and centre around the country. But where did it find it's root initially?
You could say burlesque sprung up from the glamourous and debauched outfits of the 20's but the current adaptation fits in more with the looks and style of the 50's. With one of the key influences being Bettie page.

Infamous for her role as a model, both in fashion and bondage roles. The heels, corsets and 'bangs' all fit back to Betties influence.
Of course Dita von teese also plays a crutial role with her burlesque acts and style also being an influence in the style currently.
From Glamourous nipple pasties, corset trained waists and increasingly huge heeled shoes.
The style today rings true to 50's influences from blonde bombshell bangs, pillarbox red lipstick, feathered fans and seamed tights; adding glamourous lingerine to the fold.

Companies such as What katie did are a forefront to the style. With 50's styled lingerine and burlesque accessories on the site.

Other companies following suit include Mint siren & Ruby rouge. All kitting you out with the perfect burlesque outfit.

Not forgetting the burlesque entertainment across the UK currently. From the 50's cocktail lounge that is peekaboo burlesque to the one off shows of the cats pyjama collective & the over the top arty shows at rockabaret. Those are just the tip of the iceberg as it were too burlesque is only just finding it's ruby slippered high heeled feet in the UK.
